Mate Gaspar


Mate Gaspar has been working as the deputy program director of the Arts & Culture Program of the Open Society Foundations for two years. With its grants and operational programs, the Arts and Culture Program (ACP) provides funds for innovative art practices that strengthen autonomous cultural platforms, encourage critical reflection and raise professional standards. Gaspar has extensive experience in the field of performing arts; he has been working as press editor, theatre manager, and professional trainer for the past thirteen years, and he was the managing director of a Kretakor, a leading independent theater company in Hungary for twelve years. Currently, he is doing his DLA at the Doctoral School of the Academy of Film and Theatre in Budapest focusing on cultural policies and management; he also sits on the performing arts committee at the Hungarian National Cultural Fund.
